This delightful home, a Tudor cottage in atmosphere but with plenty of space, is a classic example of the application of the Tudor style to a modest suburban home, for a family of average means. Brick walls and a slate roof give it a feeling of solidity and permanence, while the generous windows keep the interior well lit. A fireplace with a mantel of Tudor decorative elements adds to the coziness.
As a work of art these prints are worth purchasing in their own right. For those of you interested in building a historically inspired house, these plans offer an excellent starting point. This Tudor home is simple in plan and needs very few adaptations to bring it in line with modern expectations. The home is entered through an airlock entry (always a boon in a cold climate) with a generous coat closet by the door. This leads to the Living Room, which is open to the sloping roof. The kitchen could be opened up towards the enclosed porch or dining room to create more of a family room setting. This plan could be easily adapted to a narrow lot by the elimination of the enclosed porch altogether. This could be easily done with no real impact on the rest of the house. On the second floor, the bedroom over the garage could be made into a pleasant master bedroom suite by increasing the size of the bath and walk-in closet. The garage itself could be increased in size by 2-3 feet, which would increase the size of the bedroom above as well. This efficient and graceful Tudor Style house plan could be built equally well in the city, suburb or countryside. The home has outside dimensions of approximately 51' x 58'.

SHIPPING: Your drawings are shipped to you, rolled, not folded, in a Priority Mail tube. This listing includes architectural prints ONLY. Any photos shown in the description are for information only and are NOT included in your purchase. Thanks.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO BUILD: These plans are not complete architectural drawings as might be required by your local permitting agency and do not contain all the structural, waterproofing and other details and information necessary for construction. But your local builder or architect should be able to adapt these drawings and add to them as necessary. What they do provide is accurate design information about a REAL historic house, not a pseudo-historic tract house as you will find in the house plan magazines on your supermarket shelf
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE: Orders shipped to addresses outside the USA may be subject to customs duties at their destination. The buyer is responsible for any such duties.
The original drawings from which these dimensionally accurate scans were made are kept at the Historic American Building Survey, in the Library of Congress.
