HISTORY: Salvage wrecker and marine architect Asa Tift built this house in Key West in 1851. Here in 1931 Ernest Hemingway found a place he could truly call home. It was here that he wrote several of his most famous novels, including A Farewell to Arms. Hemingway and his wife Pauline Pfeiffer lived here until 1939, surrounded not only by the art they had collected on trips to Paris, but especially by their celebrated cats.
